Tokyo Above, 300 Meters

About

An investigative documentary examining the privileged status of the U.S. military in Japan, based on reporting by the Mainichi Shimbun. Focusing on low-altitude U.S. military helicopter flights over Tokyo, the film investigates the Japan–U.S. Status of Forces Agreement, the handling of crimes involving U.S. service members, and the impact of military bases on local communities. Through reporting from Tokyo, Yokota Air Base, and Okinawa, it questions the long-standing assumptions underlying the U.S.–Japan alliance and asks who truly controls Japan's skies.
